  • Giants Activate Brandon Crawford, Joc Pederson

San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford (knee) and outfielder Joc Pederson (concussion) have both been activated from the injured list, according to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports. Crawford has been sidelined since July 15th. The 35-year-old is slashing .215/.297/.332 with five homers, 33 RBI, 7.9 BB%, and 20.4 K% this year. Unless he turns things around offensively, Crawford should be left on waivers in most leagues. Pederson, on the other hand, has fared a bit better, slashing .242/.319/.492 with 17 homers, 43 RBI, 9.1 BB%, and 22.1 K%. He has been on the seven-day concussion injured list since July 28th. Pederson is a true power threat and should be rostered in most fantasy leagues.

  • Brandon Crawford Expected To Return Saturday

San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford (knee) is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list for Saturday's game against the Oakland Athletics. He began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday. The 35-year-old has been sidelined until July 15 due to bruising and inflammation of his right knee. He is slashing .215/.297/.332 with five home runs, 33 RBI, 29 runs, and a stolen base over 279 plate appearances in 72 games in 2022. Crawford is expected to be the Giants' primary shortstop when he returns but is more of a fantasy option in deep-league formats.

  • Brandon Crawford To Begin Rehab Assignment

San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford (knee) is set to begin a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday. The 35-year-old has been sidelined since July 16 due to inflammation in his right knee. The expectation is that Crawford will play at least two or three games before returning to the Giants roster. That being said, newly acquired Dixon Machado is expected to play until Crawford is ready. The hope is that Crawford won't suffer any setbacks and can return by the first half of next week.

  • Brandon Crawford Nearing Rehab Assignment

San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford (knee) is taking things day by day and has already passed the minimum 10 days on the injured list. He has talked with the Giants about possibly playing in a minor league rehab game. Crawford was cleared to begin a running program on Monday, so he's getting closer to a return to the big-league roster. Once the 35-year-old veteran begins a rehab assignment, it might not be long before the Giants are comfortable reinstating him. Crawford had struggled at the plate before his injury, hitting just .215/.297/.332 with five home runs, 33 RBI, 29 runs scored and one stolen base in 247 at-bats. Thairo Estrada will continue to play regularly at shortstop for San Fran until Crawford is able to return.

  • Brandon Crawford Begins Light Activity Thursday

San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford (knee) will throw and do some light activity Thursday. Last Saturday, he was placed on the 10-day injured list due to right knee inflammation. The 35-year-old got a cortisone shot in his left knee on Sunday and planned to do some light baseball activity since landing on the injured list. He is slashing .215/.297/.332 with five home runs, 33 RBI, 29 runs and a stolen base over 72 games in 2022. Barring any setbacks, Crawford could return when first eligible on July 26. Fantasy managers should continue to stash Crawford in deeper formats for middle-infield depth.

  • Brandon Crawford Lands On Injured List With Knee Inflammation

The San Francisco Giants placed shortstop Brandon Crawford (knee) on the 10-day injured list due to right knee inflammation on Saturday. Crawford missed 10 days due to a left knee injury from late June to early July. He only lasted about a week and a half before returning to the injured list. The 35-year-old was struggling before his first stint on the injured list and the last 10 days weren't much of a difference for him. He slashed just .152/.194/.212 over the nine games following his activation.

  • Brandon Crawford Activated And Starting On Tuesday

As expected, San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford (knee) has been activated from the 10-day injured list. He will be included in the team's starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Crawford was on the injured list for the minimum 10 days due to a left knee injury. After Crawford initially landed on the injured list, Giants manager Gabe Kapler stated that the time away from the field could help give Crawford an opportunity to reset. The 35-year-old veteran has slashed just .224/.313/.350 so far this year, hitting only five home runs over 63 games.

  • Brandon Crawford Expected Back On Tuesday

San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford (knee) remains on track to be activated from the 10-day injured list when first eligible on Tuesday. The 35-year-old was placed on the injured list on June 26 due to a left knee injury. After a fantastic 2021 campaign that saw Crawford launch a career-high 24 home runs while slashing .298/.373/.522, this season has been a different story for the veteran. Across 63 games, he's slashed just .224/.313/.350 with five home runs. Hopefully the time off this past week and a half will provide him with the reset he needed to get back on track.

  • Brandon Crawford Expected To Return When First Eligible

The San Francisco Giants placed shortstop Brandon Crawford (knee) on the 10-day injured list on Sunday. The move is retroactive to June 25 and the team is expecting for Crawford to be reactivated when first eligible. Crawford has been dealing with a left knee injury lately, but according to Giants beat writer Andrew Baggarly, this current stint on the injured list is more about general wear and tear for Crawford. Baggarly reports that Crawford will be using this stint on the injured list to rest his quad and forearm in addition to his knee.

  • Yermin Mercedes Called Up, Brandon Crawford To Injured List

The San Francisco Giants have called up catcher/designated hitter Yermin Mercedes from Triple-A. In a corresponding move, shortstop Brandon Crawford (knee) was placed on the 10-day injured list, a move that is retroactive to June 25. Mercedes was claimed off waivers by the Giants a little over a week ago. He is known for being a lefty masher and we all know how the Giants enjoy their split-heavy bats. He is not in the starting lineup against Cincinnati Reds right-hander Tyler Mahle on Sunday. The team has Monday off, but we may see Mercedes in the starting lineup against Detroit Tigers southpaw Tarik Skubal on Tuesday. Crawford, meanwhile, suffered a left knee injury this past Tuesday and only played in one game this week after the injury.

  • Brandon Crawford, Luis Gonzalez Sitting Thursday

San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford (knee) and outfielder Luis Gonzalez (back) both remain out of the starting lineup on Thursday against the Atlanta Braves. Crawford hasn't played since leaving Tuesday's game early with a bruised left knee, but an MRI exam showed that he doesn't have any structural damage, so he should be regarded as day-to-day. Gonzalez will also miss his second straight game due to lower-back tightness. Thairo Estrada is playing shortstop and is batting sixth on Thursday, while Austin Slater will get the start in center field and hit eighth against Braves right-hander Kyle Wright.

  • Brandon Crawford Could Be Available On Wednesday

San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford (knee) luckily has no structural damage in his injured knee. That being said, the All-Star shortstop could be available off the bench on Wednesday, according to manager Gabe Kapler. He was diagnosed with a left knee contusion after colliding with Braves catcher Travis d'Arnaud on Tuesday. He appears to have avoided significant injury, so fantasy managers won't have to worry about Crawford missing time.

  • Brandon Crawford Exits Tuesday's Game Early

San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford (ankle) was removed from Tuesday's game against the Atlanta Braves with an apparent ankle injury. He appeared to jam his ankle pretty hard on his late slide at the plate in the fourth inning. The 35-year-old went 1-for-1 with an RBI and a run scored before exiting. Crawford is considered day-to-day, and an update should be provided after the game. Wilmer Flores replaced Crawford and would see an uptick in at-bats if the veteran infielder misses any time. Flores is a speculative add in most leagues after hitting .236 with eight home runs and 35 RBI over 220 at-bats in 2022.

  • Brandon Crawford Remains Out Of Lineup

San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford (quadriceps) remains out of the starting lineup on Thursday against the Colorado Rockies. Crawford was scratched from the lineup on Wednesday with right quadriceps tightness but came in as a pinch-hitter and went 0-for-1. The fact that he was available off the bench means that his injury isn't all that serious. The 35-year-old veteran isn't doing much with the bat for fantasy managers this year, as he's hitting just .219/.305/.360 with five home runs, 24 RBI, 24 runs scored and a stolen base in 200 plate appearances and 50 games. Donovan Walton is at the 6 and is batting ninth, while Thairo Estrada is at the keystone and is hitting seventh on Thursday against Rockies left-hander Austin Gomber.

  • Brandon Crawford Scratched Wednesday

San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford (quad) was a late scratch for Wednesday's game against the Colorado Rockies due to quad tightness. He initially started at shortstop and batted fifth in Wednesday's contest but was removed from the lineup. The 35-year-old was pulled from Tuesday's game due to quad tightness. Crawford is considered day-to-day. Fantasy managers with daily moves need to remove Crawford from their lineups immediately. Donovan Walton replaced Crawford and will handle shortstop duties on Wednesday. Walton is not on the fantasy radar after hitting .205 with a homer over 44 at-bats in 2022.

  • Brandon Crawford Could Play Wednesday

San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford (quad) will test out his quad injury before Wednesday's game against the Colorado Rockies. He was pulled for Tuesday's game due to quad tightness. This sounds like a minor issue, so hopefully Crawford can avoid a trip to the injured list. Crawford might miss Wednesday's game, but this shouldn't be something that keep him out too long. Fantasy managers will have to check back later in the night for another update on Crawford.

  • Brandon Crawford's Quad Injury Believed To Be Minor

San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford (quad) was removed from Tuesday's game against the Colorado Rockies due to right quad tightness. After the game, Giants manager Gabe Kapler stated that Crawford probably could have stayed in the game and did not seem overly concerned about the injury. The 35-year-old should be considered day-to-day at this point. After the best offensive season of his career in 2021, Crawford has been underwhelming at the plate thus far this year. Over 50 games, he's slashing .220/.307/.362 with five home runs, 24 RBI and 24 runs.

  • Brandon Crawford Exits Tuesday's Game With Right Quad Tightness

San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford (quad) exited Tuesday's contest against the Rockies with right quad tightness, per SF Chronicles' Susan Slusser. The veteran went 0-for-2 before being removed from the game. More will likely be known after the game or in the next day or so, but it would be a defensive blow to the Giants if Crawford were to miss any time. However, Crawford has had a disappointing offensive season to this point, posting a .220/.307/.362 slash line. Fantasy managers should be on the lookout for more news.

  • Brandon Crawford Scratched With Illness

San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford (illness) was scratched from the lineup on Thursday against the Miami Marlins with a non-COVID illness. Make sure to remove him from your fantasy lineups before the game kicks off. Crawford hasn't done much at the plate for fantasy managers this year, slashing .216/.303/.329 with four home runs, 19 RBI, 22 runs scored and one stolen base in 167 at-bats. Donovan Walton will play shortstop and hit seventh on Thursday, while Thairo Estrada gets the start at the keystone and will bat sixth against Marlins right-hander Sandy Alcantara.

  • Brandon Crawford Goes Deep Monday

San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford hit a home run Monday night, providing two of the three runs the team could muster against the New York Mets. He also singled in four at-bats. Crawford now has four homers, 18 RBI, 21 runs scored, and one steal on the season to go with his .218/.306/.352 slash line. It's fair to say that the first few months of 2022 have been a major disappointment for fantasy investors after Crawford posted an .895 OPS with 24 long balls in 2021. He remains a key part of a potent offense, but it's hard to expect a return to last year's form.
