  • Stanton agent warns FAs about joining Yankees

    Headshot for Giancarlo Stanton

Giancarlo Stanton's agent clapped back at Yankees GM Brian Cashman while offering a warning to free agents who are considering joining the Bronx Bombers.

  • Offseason Outlook: New York Yankees

    Headshot for Albert Abreu

The Yankees’ 82-80 record kept the club’s streak of winning seasons alive, but that was small consolation within a very disappointing season in the Bronx.  Some manner of unspecified changes seem to be coming within the organization, yet GM Brian Cashman and manager Aaron Boone look to be returning, as the Yankees will try to…

  • Giancarlo Stanton To Alter Stance In 2024?

    Headshot for Giancarlo Stanton

New York Yankees hitting coach Sean Casey said outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton "is just a little careful" with his swing and should consider trying his old batting stance. The former MVP looked all kinds of lost during a dismal 2023 campaign that saw him slash a career-low .191/.275/.420 with 24 home runs, 13 doubles, and 60 RBI covering 371 at-bats (101 games). Stanton's albatross of a contract has him on the books for at least four more seasons with a full no-trade clause, so the Yankees will search for whatever answers they can find to help the five-time All-Star rediscover his form. Stanton is a way-too-early 2024 fantasy rebound candidate by default while bound to be carrying his lowest ADP in recent memory, but he's still likely to be a liability in the batting average and stolen bases categories.

  • Giancarlo Stanton Taking A Seat For The Season Finale

    Headshot for Kyle Higashioka

New York Yankees designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton is not in the starting lineup on Sunday against the Kansas City Royals. Unless he steps in as a pinch-hitter on Sunday, the 33-year-old will finish a wildly disappointing 2023 season with a .191/.275/.420 batting line to go along with 24 home runs and 60 RBI over 371 at-bats in 101 games. Kyle Higashioka is filling in as the Yankees designated hitter against Zack Greinke as the Royals on Sunday.

  • Giancarlo Stanton To Sit Out On Friday

    Headshot for Giancarlo Stanton

New York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton is out of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Kansas City Royals. This appears to be a routine rest day for the veteran slugger. Stanton has struggled this season, he's slashing .191/.275/.420 with 24 home runs and 60 RBI in 101 games. The expectation is that Stanton will play in the final two games of the regular season. In the meantime, Oswaldo Cabrera will cover right field and bat eighth versus right-hander Jordan Lyles on Friday.

  • Giancarlo Stanton Not Playing Monday

    Headshot for Giancarlo Stanton

New York Yankees outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton is getting the day off on Monday with the Arizona Diamondbacks in town. Aaron Judge is serving as the designated hitter and batting in the two-hole, while rookie Everson Pereira (hamstring) returns to left field and the nine-hole against Diamondbacks right-hander Merrill Kelly. Stanton is in a funk at the plate in the month of September, going 6-for-55 (.109) with four home runs, seven RBI, 25 strikeouts and seven runs scored in 15 starts. He has just two hits (one homer) and 13 strikeouts in his last eight starts since Sept. 12, so he's been out of the lineup three times in the last four games.

  • Giancarlo Stanton To Sit Out For Nightcap

    Headshot for Giancarlo Stanton

New York Yankees outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton is out of the starting lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader versus the Boston Red Sox. The veteran slugger went 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts during the first game of the day. After that, the Yankees decided to give me a breather and let him have the night off. Aaron Judge will serve as the designated hitter, while Oswaldo Cabrera starts in right field versus right-hander Kutter Crawford on Tuesday.

  • Giancarlo Stanton Hits Big Home Run Sunday

    Headshot for Giancarlo Stanton

New York Yankees outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton hit a game-tying home run in the bottom of the 12th inning on Sunday in an eventual 4-3 win over the visiting Milwaukee Brewers in 13 innings. Stanton finished the day going 1-for-3 with the home run, two RBI, a run scored, two walks and a strikeout. The 33-year-old veteran slugger now has 23 home runs, 57 RBI and 42 runs scored on the year to go along with a .200/.282/.442 slash line. Fantasy managers can't count on Stanton to hit for average at this point of his career, and he's gone just 4-for-25 (.160) with three home runs, six RBI, 12 strikeouts and six runs scored in seven starts so far in the month of September.

  • Giancarlo Stanton Joins 400-Homer Club Tuesday

    Headshot for Giancarlo Stanton

New York Yankees outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton made history in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Tigers. Stanton went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and three strikeouts. The 33-year-old now has 400 career HR and became the fourth-fastest player by games in Major League history to achieve that mark. This is his second consecutive season with a dip in average, but Stanton has still hit for plenty of power, slashing .205/.281/.448 with 22 HR and 55 RBI in 352 plate appearances. He should continue to offer fantasy value as long as he can hit the ball out of the park.

  • Giancarlo Stanton Taking A Seat Sunday Night

    Headshot for Giancarlo Stanton

New York Yankees outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton is not in the starting lineup Sunday night versus the Houston Astros and right-hander Cristian Javier. Stanton went 1-for-5 with a pair of strikeouts and a run scored in Saturday's victory over Houston but will take a seat for the series finale while slugger Aaron Judge will handle DH duties for the Bombers on Sunday in Houston. It's been a disappointing season for the former NL MVP as Stanton is hitting just .204 with 21 home runs and a .723 OPS across 85 appearances, production that grades out 5% below the league average, as per his 95 wRC+.
