  • Clayton Kershaw Throwing, Won't Rush Back

os Angeles Dodgers left-handed pitcher Clayton Kershaw (back) began throwing on Thursday and said he is feeling better after receiving an epidural injection. Kershaw has been dealing with lower back pain, which has plagued Kershaw for a few seasons now. The future Hall-Of-Famer said he will take his time building up and wants to be ready as needed for the Dodgers in October. He still could pitch in the regular season, but it likely won't be at a full workload. In leagues where IL spots are limited, dropping Kershaw isn't out of the question given his comments and the fact the Dodgers won't rush him back given their position at the top of the standings. Still, keep him around if you can afford to.

  • Clayton Kershaw's MRI Yields Best-Case Scenario

Los Angeles Dodgers skipper Dave Roberts said that left-hander Clayton Kershaw's (back) MRI exam didn't reveal anything new with his back and called it the "best-case scenario." Kershaw will rest and rehab after he was placed on the injured list on Friday. The future Hall of Famer was pulled from his outing early on Thursday against the San Francisco Giants due to lower back pain. Fantasy managers were likely very concerned at first, given his recent history with back issues, but it looks like this one might not be too significant. However, the Dodgers are unlikely to rush him back, as they'll want him fully healthy down the stretch and for the postseason. But barring any setbacks, Kershaw should pitch again before the regular season is over.

  • Clayton Kershaw Lands On Injured List

The Los Angeles Dodgers officially placed left-hander Clayton Kershaw (back) on the injured list on Friday. Skipper Dave Roberts said earlier in the day that it was likely that Kershaw would go on the injured list, although the team is hoping his back injury isn't all that serious. The 34-year-old future Hall of Famer left his start early on Thursday against the San Francisco Giants with lower back pain, which is a bit concerning given his history with back issues. Even if the injury isn't deemed serious, the Dodgers won't rush Kershaw back given their big lead over the San Diego Padres in the National League West. The Dodgers will want to keep the veteran southpaw fresh for down the stretch and into the playoffs. In 15 starts in 2022, Kershaw is 7-3 with a 2.64 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 88 strikeouts in 85 1/3 innings. Keep him stashed everywhere.

  • Clayton Kershaw Likely To Go On Injured List

Los Angeles Dodgers skipper Dave Roberts said that left-hander Clayton Kershaw (back) will likely go on the injured list, but he's "optimistic in the sense that, it shouldn't be too long term of being down." Roberts said Kershaw had an X-ray on his back that "wasn't that telling," so he'll also have an MRI exam. The 34-year-old southpaw left his start against the San Francisco Giants early on Thursday with lower back pain, so fantasy managers should expect him to miss at least the next two weeks. The Dodgers have a double-digit lead over the San Diego Padres in the National League West, so there's really no reason for them to push Kershaw, especially considering his history with back issues.

  • Clayton Kershaw Will Undergo Tests On Back

Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw (back) "got checked up" on one of his warm-up throws in the fifth inning and told trainers his back tightened. According to manager Dave Roberts, he will undergo tests back in Los Angeles on Friday but isn't sure of the severity. The southpaw allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk while striking out four in his four innings before exiting. Kershaw has had a history of back issues, and a trip to the injured list "is not out of the question," per Roberts. Overall, Kershaw has been solid this season, posting a 2.66 ERA, a 0.98 WHIP, and an 84:14 K: BB in 81 1/3 innings. Stay tuned for further updates.

  • Clayton Kershaw Leaves Thursday's Game Early With Injury

Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw (back) left his start early on Thursday against the San Francisco Giants after warming up for the fifth inning with an apparent back injury. Kershaw didn't even wait for the trainer or manager Dave Roberts to get to the mound before walking off. Kershaw gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk while striking out four in his four innings of work before departing. The 34-year-old has a history of back issues, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him land on the injured list. He also missed almost a month with SI joint inflammation earlier this year. The future Hall of Famer has been his normal solid self when on the mound this year, entering the day with a 2.66 ERA, a 0.98 WHIP and an 84:14 K:BB in 81 1/3 innings over his 14 starts. Stay tuned for more details on Kershaw's condition.

  • Clayton Kershaw To Start In All-Star Game

Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw will start for the National League in Tuesday's All-Star game in Los Angeles at Dodger Stadium. Kershaw may have made only 12 starts in the first half due to injury, but he's well-deserving of the nod to start the Midsummer Classic in the stadium that he's called his home since 2008. The 34-year-old future first-ballot Hall of Famer flirted with a perfect game in his final start of the first half against the Los Angeles Angels, ultimately giving up just one hit over eight shutout innings for his seventh win. When he's been on the mound, he's still been excellent, posting a 2.13 ERA and a 0.91 WHIP with 75 strikeouts and only 12 walks in 71 2/3 innings.

  • Clayton Kershaw The Favorite To Start In All-Star Game

Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw looks to be the favorite to start for the National League in Tuesday's All-Star game at Dodger Stadium. On the flip side, Los Angeles Angels right-hander Shohei Ohtani could get the start again for the American League, if he's willing. If not, the Tampa Bay Rays' Shane McClanahan would most likely start for the AL. While Miami Marlins starter Sandy Alcantara and Dodgers righty Tony Gonsolin have been the best in the first half, it would be cool to see Dodgers great Kershaw start in the Midsummer Classic. He's made just 12 starts because of injury in the first half, but he's also gone 7-2 with a 2.13 ERA and 0.91 WHIP while striking out 75 in 71 2/3 innings of work.

  • Clayton Kershaw Could Return Saturday

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (pelvis) could return from the injured list and pitch on Saturday against the division-rival San Francisco Giants instead of Sunday, according to skipper Dave Roberts. Kershaw has been out since mid-May with SI joint inflammation, but he's set to return this weekend after allowing one run on three hits while walking one and striking out seven in four innings for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga last Sunday. There will be a little more risk with the future Hall of Famer in his first start back, but Kershaw looked good in his rehab start and will be returning to a tidy 1.80 ERA, 0.733 WHIP and 32:3 K:BB ratio in 30 innings over five MLB starts this year.

  • Clayton Kershaw Goes Four Innings In Rehab Start

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (pelvis) threw 59 pitches over four innings in his minor league rehab start on Sunday for Low-A Rancho Cucamonga, striking out seven and allowing one run on a solo home run. Kershaw has been out for three weeks with inflammation in his right SI joint, but manager Dave Roberts is "hopeful" that Kershaw won't need a second rehab start after his outing on Sunday. The earliest he could return to the Dodgers starting rotation would be this Sunday against the division-rival San Francisco Giants. In five starts for LA before his injury, the veteran left-hander had a sparkling 1.80 ERA and 2.56 xERA with 32 strikeouts and only three walks in 30 innings.

  • Clayton Kershaw To Make Rehab Start On Sunday

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (pelvis) is scheduled to make a minor league rehab start on Sunday in Single-A. The expectation is that Kershaw will be able to throw three or four innings. After that, the 34-year-old will hopefully be able to rejoin the Dodgers rotation by next weekend. Kershaw has been sidelined since mid-May, but appears close to returning to a big league mound.

  • Clayton Kershaw, Andrew Heaney Starting Rehab Assignments

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (pelvis) will make his first minor league rehab start for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday, and he could rejoin the Dodgers after that if all goes well. Meanwhile, left-hander Andrew Heaney (shoulder) will start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City this weekend. Kershaw threw a 30-pitch bullpen session on Wednesday and has made good progress of late. Fantasy managers can't wait to get Kershaw back into their lineups, as he was performing at his usual Cy Young level before going on the injured list. Heaney hasn't pitched since mid-April due to left shoulder pain, so his rehab assignment figures to require multiple outings.

  • Clayton Kershaw Could Go On Rehab Assignment This Weekend

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (pelvis) threw a bullpen session on Wednesday consisting of 30 to 35 pitches, and skipper Dave Roberts said there have been talks about Kershaw starting a minor league rehab assignment this weekend. The 34-year-old left-hander has been on the injured list since May 13 but has thrown two bullpens in the last three days as he ramps up his activity. He'll likely need multiple rehab appearances before he's given the green light to return to the Dodgers starting rotation, but fantasy managers should be getting excited about an early June return. Kershaw was dominant in five starts before his injury, posting a 1.80 ERA and 0.73 WHIP with 32 K's and only three walks in 30 innings.

  • Clayton Kershaw Throws Bullpen Session Monday

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (pelvis) threw a 35-pitch bullpen session on Monday, according to skipper Dave Roberts. It was Kershaw's first time throwing off a mound since he landed on the injured list with SI joint inflammation earlier this month. He will throw another bullpen, and the next step will likely be a minor league rehab assignment. The 34-year-old future Hall of Famer was lights-out before his injury, going 4-0 with a 1.80 ERA, 0.73 WHIP, three walks and 32 strikeouts in 30 innings over five starts. Fantasy managers can't get Kershaw back soon enough, but make no mistake, the Dodgers will not rush him back.

  • Clayton Kershaw Resumes Throwing

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (pelvis) said that he started throwing a few days ago and is out to 90 feet. The 34-year-old left-hander is probably at least a week away from throwing bullpen sessions, and the Dodgers aren't going to rush him back too soon. The eight-time All-Star and three-time Cy Young winner will likely return at some point in late June, barring any setbacks along the way. Fantasy managers will be happy to get him back whenever he returns, as he was posting a 1.80 ERA, a 0.73 WHIP, three walks and 32 strikeouts in 30 innings over five starts before he landed on the injured list. Fellow lefty Tyler Anderson has benefitted in the Dodgers rotation in real life and fantasy.
