Clayton Kershaw Pitches Well Tuesday
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw turned in a solid start in Tuesday's Cactus League 4-2 win over the Guardians. Kershaw pitched 5 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and no walks with three strikeouts. While the veteran has a 5.11 ERA over three starts, he said that he feels great physically. This is the most encouraging aspect for fantasy managers, as Kershaw has only managed 22 starts in each of the last two seasons. His performance on a start-by-start basis is still as strong as some of the best fantasy options, but his health has knocked his average draft position down over the years.

The Dodgers' Rotation Options If Tony Gonsolin Misses Time
The Dodgers were dealt some undesirable news last week when All-Star starterĀ Tony Gonsolin rolled his left ankle during a pitcher-fielding practice session. He was diagnosed with a sprain and unable to put much weight on the leg for a few days. Manager Dave Roberts told reporters yesterday that Gonsolin has again started throwing (via Bill…

Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw is scheduled to make his Cactus League debut on Friday against the Los Angeles Angels. Although Kershaw has dealt with his share of injuries in recent seasons, he's been healthy in spring training, although the Dodgers haven't been in a hurry to get him into Cactus League games. The 34-year-old southpaw dropped out of the World Baseball Classic for Team USA due to insurance issues, but that should only be a good thing for his 2023 fantasy outlook. Kershaw is no longer a fantasy ace as he nears the end of his career, and he should be expected to miss some time due to injury. However, the future Hall of Famer can still be useful in fantasy when he's healthy. Target him as more of a SP3 in drafts this spring.

Clayton Kershaw Throws On Saturday
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw threw a bullpen session on Saturday. The left-hander is fully healthy, but recently withdrew from the World Baseball Classic due to an insurance issue. The 34-year-old continues to ramp up his activities, so he should be able to pitch at some point in March. The Dodgers are going to be cautious with the oft-injured starter as they head into the 2023 season. Kershaw is a stud when healthy, but only made 22 starts last season. Fantasy managers know exactly what they're getting in Kershaw at this point.

Clayton Kershaw Won't Pitch In World Baseball Classic
Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw announced on Friday that he will not be participating for Team USA in this year's World Baseball Classic. Kershaw declined to give a specific reason, but he said it is "super disappointing." The most likely reason is a complication with insurance for Kershaw after he missed time due to injuries in 2022. It's disappointing for Kershaw, but the Dodgers and fantasy managers probably don't mind it at all. The 34-year-old future Hall of Famer was an All-Star for the ninth time in 2022 despite making only 22 starts. Kershaw went 12-3 with a 2.28 ERA (2.57 FIP), 0.94 WHIP and 27.8 percent strikeout rate in 126 1/3 innings. He's still been good when healthy, but he's missed considerable time in the last three seasons and is a good bet to hit the injured list again at some point in 2023.

Clayton Kershaw May Not Pitch In World Baseball Classic
Team USA general manager Tony Reagins said that "there are some challenges in getting Clayton Kershaw cleared" for the 2023 World Baseball Classic. The exact reason for Kershaw's uncertain status is not known. The most common hold-up for players to play in the WBC is the need to secure insurance coverage, particularly those with a history of injuries such as Kershaw, who missed two months in 2022 with back problems and almost needed Tommy John surgery in 2021. The Los Angeles Dodgers continue to proceed as if Kershaw will play in the tournament, but it's not official yet. Fantasy managers would prefer if the 34-year-old southpaw sat out of the WBC, as he's missed significant time each of the last two seasons due to shoulder, forearm and back injuries.
