Jake McCarthy Officially Recalled, Starting On Friday

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Jake McCarthy has been officially recalled from Triple-A Reno on Friday. The left-handed slugger struggled during his 17-game stint on the MLB roster earlier in the season. Since then, McCarthy is slashing .333/.419/.533 with four homers and four stolen bases in 22 games in the minors. The organization is hopeful that he can carry over that momentum into the big leagues. He'll bat eighth and cover right field versus left-hander Chris Sale on Friday. Fantasy managers might want to use a wait-and-see approach here.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are planning to recall outfielder Jake McCarthy from Triple-A Reno after a recent hot stretch at the plate on the farm, according to a source. To make room, the team optioned outfield prospect Dominic Fletcher To Reno. McCarthy hit just .143 (9-for-63) with one long ball in 22 games before being sent down in April. In his last eight games with Reno, he's going 17-for-37 (.460) with two doubles and two homers. Fletcher, the team's No. 15 prospect per MLB Pipeline, provided an early boost after initially being called up, but he's gone 6-for-36 (.167) with 10 K's on the team's recent road trip. The 25-year-old McCarthy is the favorite to start in center once again and will be a popular waiver-wire pickup in deep-mixed leagues if he's still available.
