  • Jorge Soler, Marco Luciano Not In Saturday's Lineup

    Headshot for Marco Luciano

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jorge Soler and shortstop Macro Luciano are not in Saturday's lineup. Soler has started in every game since returning from the injured list with an injured shoulder and has performed well with a .267/.333/.467 line highlighted by a solo shot on Friday evening. Luciano has started at shortstop over the past seven games and posted a stellar .429/.500/.619 line. As a result, Patrick Bailey will serve as the designated hitter and bat third on Saturday afternoon, and Brett Wisely will serve as the shortstop and bat in the nine-hole. Bailey is worth a look in DFS as he enters Saturday with a strong .301/.352/.495 line with four long balls and two stolen bases. He will face Luis Severino, who enters Saturday with a 3.48 ERA and 1.22 WHIP.

  • Jorge Soler Collects Three Hits Saturday

    Headshot for Jorge Soler

San Francisco Giants designated hitter Jorge Soler went 3-for-5 in Saturday's 14-4 win over the Rockies, including a pair of doubles. The slugger also drove in two runs and scored once. It's worth noting that Soler was penciled into the leadoff spot in both games since coming off the IL, and has gone 4-for-9 (.444) with a walk in those two contests. Shaking things up might just be what Soler needs, as it has been an underwhelming season so far, slashing .219/.308/.383 with five home runs, 10 RBI, and 16 runs scored over 146 plate appearances. He'll get a chance to make it a three-game hit streak on Sunday as the Giants face Dakota Hudson, who has an ugly 6.13 ERA on the season and Soler is 3-for-9 with a double and four walks against in his career.

  • Jorge Soler Officially Activated On Friday

    Headshot for Jorge Soler

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jorge Soler (shoulder) has been activated from the injured list on Friday. The slugging outfielder is back in the lineup after missing time due to a lingering shoulder issue. He'll serve as the designated hitter and bat leadoff against right-hander Ryan Feltner on Friday. Soler has been off to a slow start this season but hopefully some time off helped him get back on track. Fantasy managers who have Soler rostered should make sure to get him back in their lineups on Friday.

  • Jorge Soler Likely To Be Activated Friday

    Headshot for Jorge Soler

San Francisco Giants designated hitter Jorge Soler (shoulder) began a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday. Soler is slated to play in two games in the minors and will likely be back with the Giants on Friday for the series opener against the division-rival Colorado Rockies if everything goes well there. Before hitting the injured list with a strained right shoulder, the 32-year-old slugger slashed a disappointing .202/.294/.361 with five homers, four doubles, and eight RBI through 119 at-bats (34 games) as San Fran's everyday DH. Despite those shortcomings, Soler would have a great opportunity to jump-start his season while facing off with a Rockies team that entered Tuesday's action ranked last in team ERA (5.16) and WHIP (1.53) in 2024.

  • Jorge Soler Hit In Head During Batting Practice

    Headshot for Jorge Soler

San Francisco Giants outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler (head, shoulder), who was hitting on the field on Tuesday for the first time since going on the injured list, fouled a ball off the top pipe of the batting cage that ricocheted and hit him in the head. Soler walked off the field with a trainer and could undergo testing for a concussion if his injury is serious enough. At the very least, this incident could cause the Giants to pause the 32-year-old veteran slugger's rehab from a shoulder injury. The Cuban right-handed hitter will return to a regular role in the Giants' lineup between outfield and the DH spot when he's healthy enough to return from the injured list. His elite power alone makes him worth stashing in most fantasy leagues. Before getting hurt, Soler was hitting .202 (24-for-119) with five homers and eight RBI in his first 34 games with the Gigantes.

  • Jorge Soler Begins Hitting Progression

    Headshot for Wilmer Flores

San Francisco Giants designated hitter Jorge Soler (shoulder) began a hitting progression on Friday. Soler said that he was feeling "extremely well" and had no pain in his strained right shoulder on Wednesday. The fact that Soler didn't face a shutdown from baseball activities and is already hitting means he has a great chance of being activated from the 10-day injured list on May 15, when he's first eligible for reinstatement. Although the 32-year-old slugger was slashing a disappointing .202/.294/.361 with five home runs, four doubles, and eight RBI across 136 plate appearances (34 games) as San Fran's everyday DH before going down, he's worth stashing for fantasy managers in need of power stats. With Soler sidelined, veteran Wilmer Flores should continue operating the Giants' primary DH.

  • Giants Place Jorge Soler On 10-Day Injured List

    Headshot for Jorge Soler

The San Francisco Giants placed outfielder Jorge Soler (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with a right-shoulder strain and recalled outfielder Heliot Ramos from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move. Soler missed the team's last three games with his shoulder injury and will now be forced to miss at least another week. The 32-year-old right-handed slugger boasts elite power but has gone just 24-for-119 (.202) with five home runs, eight RBI and 14 runs scored in his first 34 games in San Francisco. Ramos, 24, is serving as the designated hitter on Wednesday night and is hitting seventh in the batting order. He has yet to make an impact at the big-league level for the Giants but was swinging a hot bat in the minors and will be worth a look off the waiver wire in NL-only leagues now that he could see some playing time over the next week for the Gigantes.

  • Jorge Soler Remains Out On Tuesday

    Headshot for Wilmer Flores

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jorge Soler (shoulder) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Colorado Rockies. The 32-year-old has been sidelined since last weekend due to a right shoulder issue. For now, Soler is considered as day-to-day and should be available off the bench. In the meantime, Wilmer Flores will serve as the designated hitter and bat fifth versus right-hander Dakota Hudson. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly.

  • Jorge Soler Still Out Of Lineup On Monday

    Headshot for Jorge Soler

San Francisco Giants designated hitter Jorge Soler (shoulder) is not in the lineup for the team's series finale against the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday. Soler is currently battling a shoulder issue, which also kept him out of action in Sunday's 5-4 loss. The slugger's shoulder injury doesn't appear to be a long-term issue. However, fantasy managers should keep an eye on his status before Tuesday's game. The 32-year-old has gotten off to a slow start at the plate in 2024, hitting just .202 with five home runs and eight RBI in 34 games.

  • Jorge Soler Not Available Sunday

    Headshot for Jorge Soler

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jorge Soler (shoulder) was unavailable on Sunday due to a "shoulder thing", according to manager Bob Melvin. Soler was out of the starting lineup today, but the shoulder injury is a new development. It explains why the slugger wasn't used in the ninth inning with the Giants down one run. The injury doesn't sound like a major concern, but fantasy managers should check Soler's status before tomorrow's game and remove him from lineups if he isn't starting. With the Giants having seven games next week, including a weekend series against the Colorado Rockies, this would be an inopportune time for Soler to miss.

  • Jorge Soler Strikes Out Three Times Sunday

    Headshot for Jorge Soler

San Francisco Giants designated hitter Jorge Soler had a rough go Sunday in the 3-2 victory against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Soler couldn't connect at the plate, striking out all three times. He continues to struggle at the plate, hitting .171 (6-for-35) with four runs, three RBI, two homers, three walks, and 13 strikeouts in his last 10 games. He's slashing .216/.314/.402 with four doubles, 14 RBI, 14 runs, five homers, 14 walks, and 31 strikeouts in 29 games this season. Fantasy managers should continue to bench Soler until he can turn things around at the plate.
