Andrew Painter Throwing "Short" Bullpen Sessions

  • Headshot for Andrew Painter

Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Andrew Painter (elbow) has begun throwing "short" bullpen sessions. "He's feeling better and better, but that's still a process," Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski said. The Phillies placed Painter on the 60-day injured list to begin the minor league season. He has been sidelined since March since being diagnosed with a UCL sprain in his elbow back in March. The Phillies will be careful with their top pitching prospect and won't rush him back to the big leagues. "He's making strides, but we're being very careful with him, very slow, but he is up on the mound at this point," added Dombrowski. Fantasy managers should continue stashing Painter in all league formats, as he could return and contribute later in the season.
