  • George Springer, Joe Panik Take Batting Practice

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer (quadriceps) and infielder Joe Panik (calf) took batting practice in the cages on Wednesday. Springer will begin a running progression on Thursday. The 31-year-old outfielder has been a huge disappointment for fantasy managers, as he's played in just four games in his first season in Toronto while dealing with oblique and quadriceps issues. Barring setbacks, Springer is hoping to return to the lineup by the end of May, and the Blue Jays and fantasy managers will be hoping he can hit the ground running by then. Panik, a utility infielder for Toronto, is currently on the 10-day injured list with a calf strain. He's hitting just .226/.241/.302 with no homers and four RBI in 19 games and can be ignored in most fantasy leagues.

  • George Springer Likely Out Longer Than 10 Days

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer (quadriceps) isn't expected to be ready to return to the lineup when his latest stint on the 10-day injured list ends on May 13, according to general manager Ross Atkins. Springer aggravated his strained right quadriceps and had been out of the lineup for two days before undergoing an MRI exam on Wednesday. He didn't make his team debut until April 28 because of a strained oblique and later the quad injury. The 2017 World Series MVP hit two home runs on Saturday but also felt pain while running out a ground ball. Springer was the designated hitter in all four games he's played in and will have a "minimal workload" as he tries to recover from his latest setback. The 31-year-old has been a huge disappointment for fantasy managers so far this year.

  • George Springer Placed On The Injured List

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer (quadriceps) has been placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 3. The veteran had an MRI on Wednesday to determine the severity of the lingering strain in his right quad. Although the injury doesn't appear to be too serious, it is bad enough to keep him out of the lineup for the next week or so. Springer has struggled this season, so hopefully, he will pick things up for fantasy managers upon his return.

  • George Springer Undergoes MRI Wednesday

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer (quad) underwent an MRI on Wednesday for his right quad, according to Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic. McGrath adds that the team is concerned he hasn't been improving fast enough, and that depending on the results of the MRI, he could end up being held out of the lineup longer or could face another stint on the injured list. For now, Springer is out of Wednesday's lineup, marking his fourth straight game being held out of the starting nine. Managers should look for further updates on his condition later tonight.

  • George Springer Out Of Lineup Again On Tuesday

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer is out of the starting lineup again on Tuesday night, as it will be his third game in a row he will sit out. Springer was held out of the lineup on Sunday due to it being a day game immediately following a night game, and then Monday's absence was announced as being planned in advance. Currently there is no word for why Springer is being held out Tuesday. Springer opened the year on the injured list dealing with an oblique strain and a quad strain, and managers will now hope that he won't need to head back to the IL again.
