  • Tyler Glasnow Could Pitch In 2022

Tampa Bay Rays star pitcher Tyler Glasnow's chances of pitching this season are "not zero," pitching coach Kyle Snyder told Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. Glasnow underwent Tommy John surgery in 2021 and has come along nicely in his recovery, touching 99 mph on the radar gun. The now-28-year-old went 5-2 with a 2.70 xFIP, 45.3 GB%, 12.58 K/9, and 2.76 BB/9 last season. He should be rostered in all dynasty leagues, and managers in redraft leagues with an open IL spot should consider stashing him.

  • Rays Claim Jimmy Yacabonis From Marlins

The Rays have claimed right-hander Jimmy Yacabonis off waivers from the Marlins, reports Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. • Jason Adam Notches Fifth Save On Wednesday

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Jason Adam struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. He entered the ninth inning to protect a one-run lead. The 31-year-old needed 10 pitches to earn his fifth save of the year. He has been fantastic this season for the Rays, posting a 1.27 ERA, 0.63 WHIP, and a 51:8 K: BB across 42 2/3 innings in 2022. The Rays continue to use a bullpen by committee between Adam, Pete Fairbanks, Colin Poche, and Brooks Raley. Adam has more value in fantasy leagues that count saves and holds as a category but should be rostered in most formats as he provides excellent ratios with an occasional save.

  • Astros Showing Interest In Ji-Man Choi

The Houston Astros are showing interest in Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Ji-Man Choi as a possible alternative to their apparent No. 1 choice in Washington Nationals first baseman Josh Bell, according to sources. If the Rays were to trade Choi, they would make other moves to recoup the offense they lost, trying to create the best possible 13-man position-player group. They are currently playing short-handed with shortstop Wander Franco and outfielders Manuel Margot and Harold Ramirez on the injured list. Choi is currently hitting .257/.355/.415 with eight home runs, 46 RBI and 27 runs scored in 253 at-bats for the Rays. The 31-year-old from South Korea would give the Astros a nice left-handed-hitting option at first base.

  • Josh Lowe Optioned To Triple-A

The Tampa Bay Rays optioned rookie outfielder Josh Lowe to Triple-A Durham on Sunday to make room for recently acquired outfielder David Peralta on the active MLB roster. Whenever the 24-year-old returns to the big leagues, he'll return to a seven-game hitting streak. He'll need to cut down on his strikeout rate when he returns to the Rays if he wants to see regular playing time. Lowe will return to a .299/.382/.540 slash line with a .922 OPS, six home runs, 35 RBI, 22 runs scored and six stolen bases at Durham.

He has now recorded a save in back-to-back opportunities. The right-hander is 2-for-2 in save chances, posting a 5.40 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and six strikeouts over five innings.
