  • Yermin Mercedes Out Of Thursday's Lineup

Chicago White Sox designated hitter Yermin Mercedes has been left off of Thursday's lineup card versus the Minnesota Twins. Mercedes has been the waiver wire pickup of the season and it's just a routine day off. Mercedes hasn't slowed down since starting the season 8-for-8 and is hitting .376 with five home runs and 21 RBI. First baseman Jose Abreu will DH on Thursday and infielder Jake Lamb will bat second and play first base. Lamb is just 3-for-21 on the season and should be avoided against Michael Pineda Thursday afternoon.

  • Yermin Mercedes Plates Three In Victory

Chicago White Sox designated hitter Yermin Mercedes went 2-for-5 with a double, triple and three RBI in Sunday's victory versus the Kansas City Royals. The triple was Mercedes first of his big league career and helped jump start the White Sox offense for the day. Mercedes has been off to a great start in his debut campaign and remains a big part of the White Sox offense. Mercedes is now hitting .373 with a 1.005 OPS, five homeruns and 20 RBI. Managers should have no reason to not start Mercedes and he will look to continue his strong season when the White Sox host the Twins for a three game set that starts on Tuesday.

  • Yermin Mercedes Scratched From Sunday's Lineup

Chicago White Sox designated hitter Yermin Mercedes has been scratched from Sunday's lineup versus the Cleveland Indians for with manager Tony La Russa saying that infielder Jake Lamb has earned at-bats and deserves them. Mercedes was scheduled to bat fifth on Sunday, but the White Sox released an updated lineup that has Lamb as the designated hitter. Lamb will bat fifth on Sunday against Zach Plesac. Mercedes is unlikely to start on Tuesday and Wednesday with the Pale Hose playing guest against the Cincinnati Reds. Mercedes has finally cooled off after a historic start to the season and hitting .250 with one home and on RBI over the past week. Mercedes should remain rostered in all formats, but managers in weekly lineups would be wise to rest him next week.
