Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed on Friday that starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin (ankle), as expected, will begin the 2023 regular season on the injured list due to a sprained ankle he suffered in camp. While Gonsolin won't be ready to take his first turn through the rotation to begin the year, he's expected to only miss the first couple weeks of action. The 28-year-old right-hander isn't being pushed by the Dodgers to close out spring training, and he's fully expected to be a big piece of their starting rotation yet again after breaking out in 2022. Gonsolin was injured late in the year, though, and appeared to be running out of gas after a previous career high of only 55 2/3 innings pitched in 2021. Pitching for the Dodgers gives him more appeal for wins, but fantasy managers shouldn't expect an improvement over last year.
