  • Wil Myers Placed On COVID-19 List

    The San Diego Padres placed outfielder Wil Myers on the COVID-19 injured list on Wednesday after he tested positive for the virus. The Padres have had five players go on the injured list in the last two days due to COVID-19 concerns, including star shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. In corresponding moves, infielder/outfielder Brian O'Grady and outfielder Patrick Kivlehan were recalled from Triple-A El Paso. Kivlehan is starting in right field and hitting seventh in the first game of a doubleheader against the Rockies on Wednesday. O'Grady has hit safely in all six games at El Paso and is batting .261 with two home runs. Kivlehan was hitting .231 with a homer in six games on the farm. There is no timetable for Myers' return.

  • Wil Myers And Eric Hosmer Removed Midgame With COVID-Related Issues

    San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers (COVID) and Eric Hosmer were lifted from Tuesday's game against the Colorado Rockies due to COVID-related protocol. Myers exited the game in the third inning and manager Jayce Tingler revealed he tested positive for COVID-19 in the postgame. Hosmer was removed due to contact tracing. Myers will join shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. on the COVID-IL while Hosmer will be out until deemed safe to return. Utilitymen Jurickson Profar and Jorge Mateo are also in the protocol. WIth an outbreak underway in the Friars locker room, the team will rely on backup infielders Ha-Seong Kim, Tucupita Marcano and outfielder John Andreoli to fill the void in Wednesday's doubleheader at Coors Field.
