  • Nick Castellanos Has His Appeal Denied By MLB

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Nick Castellanos had his appeal for a two-game suspension denied by MLB on Monday. Castellanos was ejected and handed a two-game suspension following his role in an incident with the St. Louis Cardinals on April 3 where the veteran outfielder flexed after scoring a run. MLB called his actions "aggressive" and pointed out that he "instigated a bench-clearing incident." Castellanos was angry at the Cardinals after he had been hit by a pitch earlier in the inning and was actually seen walking away from the scrum of players after benches emptied. The Reds thought that Castellanos' appeal had a shot but he instead will likely begin serving the two-day suspension on Tuesday. Fantasy gamers counting on him will want to make other plans for the next handful of days.

  • Nick Castellanos Slashing .306/.333/.653 Through 12 Games

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Nick Castellanos is off to a solid start to the 2021 season. Through 12 games, he's slashing .306/.333/.653 with four home runs, three doubles, eight RBI and 10 runs. While he's only walked one time so far this year, he's cut down his strikeouts significantly. He currently has a strikeout rate of just 13.7%, which is less than half of what it was last year (28.5%). His xwOBA (.487) and xwoBACON (.558) both rank amongst the top 5% of the league. Castellanos looks primed for a big 2021 season. He should be a great source of power with the potential to hit for a solid batting average as well.
